The Nottingham One Tenants Association has existed since 2018, and its members, and especially its committee members, have spent hundreds if not thousands of voluntary hours trying to improve things in Nottingham One.
Leaseholders have endured scandalous levels of mismanagement, unscrupulous and underhanded tactics from both the managing agent and the freeholder. It has been tempting to take legal action to undo and seek compensation for these many wrongs that have been done to us. But the risk has always been that these turn into an extremely costly and time consuming undertaking with the odds stacked firmly against us.
Now that we have the assent of more than 50% of leaseholders in the building, we can go for what's called "right to manage". Rather than righting past wrongs, RTM acts as a prevention of future abuses by almost entirely removing the freeholder from the decision-making processes of running the building.
What does Right To Manage actually mean?
Despite the name, "right to manage" just means that we choose the management company and they work for us.
The RTM process was launched on Monday, the 13th of July and we've already made progress towards the cost of the process. Please join in and contribute your share.
We need £21,000 to pay a specialist company to carry out the process of RTM for us so that it is done perfectly, to avoid any delays or setbacks.
We need at least 70 leaseholders to become founder members and pay £300 to reach £21,000.
There are 242 apartments in Nottingham One. The more people who support, the less we all pay each.
N1TA currently has 88 members who have all expressed their support previously so this should be highly doable.
(If you are unable to pay upfront please pay in instalments you can manage)
A one-off payment of about £300 to have RTM is an absolute bargain. Just read below some of the things that would have been different if we'd had RTM years ago:
